Retreats

Grade 9 Retreats: Frosh Days of Recollection. Each September and January the freshmen of Ursuline High School attend their first and second days of recollection with their class. This is the beginning of a series of “retreats.” During their years at Ursuline, as part of the Mission of the Ursuline Order, our students take moments away from the classroom curriculum and work on a deeper challenge: their soul. With hundreds of years of tradition, these days of recollection are collaborative efforts between teachers, counselors, members of the ASB/leadership community and our campus ministers.

Grade 10 Retreats: In September the sophomores of Ursuline High School will be attending their third day of recollection for their class. This is a continuation of a series or spiritual reflections during the course of their studies at Ursuline High School. Once again, as part of the Mission of the Ursuline Order, our students take moments away from the classroom curriculum and work on their faith development. The sophomores also attend an overnight retreat in the spring. This retreat builds their unity as a class and each girl’s commitment to leadership in her areas of strength and interest.

Grade 11 Retreat: Juniors choose from several retreat dates in the spring. This is a coed overnight retreat held in conjunction with boys from our brother school, Cardinal Newman. The theme of the Junior Retreat is “Values.” And the focus on faith values development in a quiet, contemplative setting is a powerful one for the 11th Grade students.

Grade 12 Retreat: Seniors choose from several retreat dates in the spring. This is a coed, two-night retreat held in conjunction with boys from our brother school, Cardinal Newman. The theme for the Senior Retreat is “Journey.” The focus on each participant’s faith journey, and the bonding effect it has on the students, truly provides the culminating outstanding high school experience that our students recall with great fondness for the remainder of their lives.
