Prospective Students

Esperanza

In the spring of each year, and sometimes also in the fall, groups of students, parents, and teachers place their basic gear in the Cardinal Newman and Ursuline vans and head south to Tijuana, Mexico, to support the Esperanza Project.

Through this Project the student, parent and faculty volunteers help a family build a small basic home. This sweat equity project not only makes a huge difference for a family who can move from a cardboard lean-to into a clean, sturdy, one- or two-room home, but it also gives students a new appreciation for what is important in life. Each participant gains a broader perspective about priorities, and each develops insights about the relative unimportance of material possessions and the great importance of family, friends, and Christ.
