DANCE I

| Dance I is a multi-grade activity based class. In Dance I we will explore the importance of artistic expression, physical fitness and cooperative learning. Students will participate in a variety of dance forms such as jazz, modern, ballet, hip-hop and multicultural dance. Students will be guided through technical and creative exercises on how to interpret music, use expression, execute various styles of movement and create choreography. Dance class also includes training in posture, core dynamics, Pilate’s technique and Yoga. Dance I is a participatory class where students will be encouraged to make class decisions and help create a comfortable, supportive and inclusive learning environment. At the conclusion of both semesters there will be an evening performance open to the public. This full year of dance I meets the UC & CSU Visual & Performing Arts requirements. | ||
DANCE II
| Grade 10-12 | DANCE II (full year) | DANCE IIs (1 semester) |
| Prerequiste: 1 Semester of Dance at UHS or previous dance experience. Dance II is a multi-grade activity based class. In Dance II we will continue to explore the importance of artistic expression, physical fitness and cooperative learning. Students will participate in a variety of intermediate level dance forms such as jazz, modern, ballet, hip-hop and multicultural dance. Focus will be placed on developing student choreography and performing in small group dances. Dance II is a participatory class where students will be encouraged to make class decisions and help create a comfortable, supportive and inclusive learning environment. At the conclusion of both semesters there will be an evening performance open to the public. This full year of Dance II meets the UC & CSU Visual & Performing Arts requirements. | ||
